I’m Becks.
I love food and authentic, meaningful connection in relationships. To me, these are the simplist yet richest of pleasures.
I grew up in the 80’s when the good housekeeping guide was the ‘official’ home bible, women ran homes, gender roles were clearly defined and home entertaining was a serious social occupation. You can’t beat the warmth and solidarity of coming together with loved ones, especially when good food is part of the occassion. It’s one thing my family do well and I love how we think nothing of travelling miles across the globe to be together, no matter the weather outside or inside the family dynamic – with all its’ colour and texture.
The harsh experience of my parents’ divorce, followed by the sudden loss of my Father at the tender age of 15, had such a profound effect on my life and close relationships. The dramatic contrast of deep love and connection with tragic loss, stiffled by a typically British, stiff upper lipped family (why did I end up with that Karma?!) – shaped who I am and what I stand for. The lessons I learnt in overcoming how this affected me means the power of my work is unlike other designers.
That loss influenced a powerful drive to make the most of my life. I graduated with a design degree in 2003, followed by a short, informative stint working with a renowned Interior Designer. I then spent 7 years making and selling decorative ceramic objects for the home, teaching creative workshops and classes whilst developing my business knowledge. I renovated my first two auction properties during this time and then let a third, mixed-use premises out. In-between, I partnered with local businesses to run two artisan inspired pop-up shops.
I love creating yet felt a desire to have a greater impact with my design skills. So in 2010 I made a full-time career transition and joined a local company designing kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, for four years. Another dramatic contrast to the previous three years, when I managed the re-lets for a large social housing provider. Working with such diverse groups of people informed my ethos and desire to focus on serving people who want to create their dream home. In 2014 I started my own kitchen design business and partnered with a UK, family run company for the sourcing and delivery elements.
Having a growth mind-set is a big priority for me and I’ve hired and worked with some phenomenal coaches and mentors to maximise my potential, at various stages of my life. Often combining this with travel. I apply this methodology to my design business and liken myself to a ‘design coach or consultant’. I love Kitchens as they really are the heart of the home; the nucleus of a family environment. A consciously designed space not only enhances the aesthetics of your home, it brings your lifestyle and relationships to life. Which in my opinion is the elixir of life. The design journey I take clients through highlights what’s important to them and what’s not, removing blocks and misalignment to get to the heart of what they really love. So they can cultivate a home that speaks to and enriches the very essence of who they are, for years to come.
My Mission?
To make these truly satisfying benefits of personal design more accessible and customary, so more people can experience a higher level of happiness and connection within their home. Why should that level of well-being be a luxury or cost the earth? Whether you’re at the start of renovating or building from scratch, if you’re a home owner and do not want an ‘off the shelf’, generic approach nor do you want to pay a fancy designer pricetag, I would love to help!
Not all kitchen showrooms give you a level of service that prioritizes you and how you want to live in your home. You can’t guarantee you won’t be enticed by a ‘trendy’ kitchen sale or make costly mistakes that lead to disappointment and regret. Nevermind the emotional and financial toll down the line. It’s important to feel peace of mind you’ll get it right first time. So I’ve packed the depth of my professional knowledge and design experience into a series of online digital design offers, so you can create a clear vision of a new kitchen you’ll love.
IT’s not for everyone or for those who love the easy or safe option or don’t like questions. The digital products are designed to uncover your design desires and evoke deep, authentic intimacy. Be prepared to unleash your inner design diva and get creative! Plus you’ll be able to make smart, confident purchasing decisions for your home, saving you time and money on expensive “ut oh’’s. They work in a stand-alone, fun and easy-to-digest format and reflect my 1:1 process, so you also don’t have to rush decisions or drain your energy with diminshed kitchen dreams because you didn’t know what most designers won’t tell you. You’ll come away with the clarity tools to take control of your kitchen project, whilst avoiding the kind of kitchen regrets most people don’t see coming.
Kick-start the kitchen design process with confidence and create a soul-satisfying vision for your home, with my divine style journey . Alternatively, if you would like to elevate your home on a 1:1 basis I also take on a select number of clients each year.
