I’m Becks.
I love food and authentic, meaningful connection in relationships.
I grew up in the 80’s when the good housekeeping guide was the ‘official’ home bible, women ran homes, gender roles were clearly defined and dinner parties and home entertaining was a serious social priority. (How times have changed!) I love my family’s love of good food and how they always make time for family get togethers and celebrations – despite the fact we travel miles across the globe to be together. You can’t beat the warmth and solidarity of coming together with loved ones and food, no matter the weather outside or inside the family dynamic – with all its’ colour and texture. FHB (Family hold back) was always the protocol when guests are involved!
The harsh experience of my parents’ divorce followed by the sudden loss of my Father at the tender age of 15, had such a profound effect on my life and close relationships. This deep yet influential experience of love and loss of such a special connection, within a typically British, stiff upper lipped family, shaped who I am and what I stand for. The lessons I learnt in overcoming the effects of this means the depth of my work is powerful and unlike other designers.
I decided right then I wanted to make the very most of my life. I got my design degree in Bath in 2003, followed by a short, informative stint working with a renowned Interior Designer. I then spent 7 years making and selling decorative ceramic objects for the home, teaching creative workshops and classes whilst developing my business knowledge. I also developed my first two auction properties and then let a third, commercial premises out.
I knew I wanted to create more impact in the world, affect change and be of service to many with my design skills. So in 2010 I made a full-time career transition and joined a local company designing kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms for four years. I managed the re-lets for a large social housing provider in the three years prior to this, so the contrast of working with such diverse groups of people, informed my ethos and desire to focus on serving people who want to create their dream home. In 2014 I started my own kitchen design business and partnered with a fabulous company for the sourcing and delivery elements.
Having a growth mind-set has always been a big priority for me and I’ve hired and worked with some phenomenal coaches and mentors to maximise my potential, at various stages of my life, often whilst travelling. I apply this methodology to my design business and liken myself to a ‘design or kitchen coach or consultant’. I love Kitchens as they really are the heart of the home; the nucleus of a family environment and a consciously designed space not only enhances your environment, it improves your lifestyle and enriches your relationships. The design journey I take clients through highlights what’s important and what needs letting go of and in doing so we remove the blocks or misalignment with themselves and get to the heart of what they really want. So they can experience the most life enriching home environment for years to come, in a fun way.
My Mission?
To make the exceptional benefits of personal design more accessible and customary so more people can experience that level of happiness and connection within their home. Why should that be a luxury or cost the earth? Whether you’re at the start of renovating or building from scratch, if you’re a home owner and do not want an ‘off the shelf’, generic approach nor do you want to pay a fancy designer pricetag, I would love to help!
Not all kitchen showrooms will give you a level of service that prioritises your lifestyle and focuses on the experience you want in your home. You can’t guarantee you won’t make costly mistakes or be enticed by a ‘trendy’ kitchen sale, leading to disappointment and expensive regret that takes an emotional and financial toll. I want clients to have peace of mind they’ll get it right first time. I’ve packed the depth of my professional knowledge and design experience into a series of online digital design offers, so you can create a clear vision of a new “forever” kitchen you’ll love. Plus you’ll be able to make confident purchasing decisions, saving you time and money on expensive “ut oh’’s. Whether you’re at the start of renovating or building from scratch and want to approach the project with clarity, I have a digital product that will help you – without a fancy designer pricetag.
IT’s not for everyone or for those who love the easy or safe option, as the products are designed to uncover your design desires and evoke deep, authentic intimacy. Be prepared to unleash your inner design diva and get creative ! On a practical note, they’ll help you to confidently make the best design choices and buying decisions for your home. They work in a stand-alone, fun and easy-to-digest format, so you also don’t have to spend hours, draining your energy and diminishing your dreams chasing the perfect kitchen or trying to figure this out on your own. Giving you the tools and support you need to make your project easy, fun & enjoyable.
If you want to kick-start the kitchen design process with confidence and create a soul-satisfying vision and beautiful sense of home, both inside and out, my divine style journey is a good starting point. Alternatively, if you would like to up level your home on a 1:1 basis I also take on a select number of clients each year. Please do contact me for a friendly chat.
